My name is Fred Merk, and I create music under the name 17f.
Over the years, I’ve released several albums that blend DIY folk, ambient textures, and cinematic atmospheres.
While I consider myself a guitarist first, my practice has evolved to include artistic production, arranging, and sound engineering.
I have a deep, singular passion for sound and its inner structures, which has led me to build custom feedback instruments, amplifiers, and unusual recording setups.
